Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur has been in the news after her post on social networking sites against the ABVP student organisation and many celebrities and politicians are in support of her stand.
The very bold actress of Bollywood Vidya Balan has also supported Gurmehar's stand for raising her voice against the ABVP student when JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid were invited for a seminar in Ramjas.
"What we need to really respect is everyone's individuality, don't want to comment more but I think everyone should have the freedom to express (themselves). " Vidya Balan said when asked about the DU Controversy, during an interview. The daughter of an Indian Army martyr has received support from a section of the society, Gurmehar has also received criticism and even threat calls for her act.Just after Vidya's statement, Home Affairs Kiren Rijju tweeted, "Freedom of expression is not a licence to shout anti-national slogans in campuses. Criticise the govt but don't abuse the motherland."Lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar tweeted in response to Rijju tweets. "I don't about her but Mr Minister I know who is polluting your mind. If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr its understandable but whats wrong with some educated folks.""Mr minister , you have condemned the left by falsely accusing them for celebrating soldiers killing n not a word about AVBP. Grossly biased." he also added.Apart from Vidya, stars like Pooja Bhatt, musician Vishal Dadlani, director Shirish Kunder and others have also supported Gurmehar Kaur.saharasamay For Latest Updates Please-
