Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with senior ministers, hours after Supreme Court ordered restoring of criminal conspiracy charge against BJP leaders L. K. Advani, M M Joshi and Uma Bharti in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu were among those who attended the meeting at Lok Kalyan Marg.

After the ruling, opposition is mounting pressure on the Prime Minister to sack Union Minister Uma Bharti but she has refused to step down.

The BJP leader said that she would not resign as Union Minister and that the charges of conspiracy in the Babri Masjid demolition case have not yet been proven against her.

She has also cancelled her Thursday visit to Ayodhya after the Supreme Court ruling.

"The issue of Ram temple at Ayodhya is not political but a matter of conviction for me. If I would have gone there, this would have turned into a political affair. So I am cancelling my visit," Uma Bharti said in a statement on Wednesday.

Bharti said that she would campaign for the party in the Delhi civic polls and later visit Ayodhya.
