Minutes after Nitish Kumar stepped down as Bihar Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the JDU supremo for taking a stand against corruption.
"Congratulate Nitish Kumar Ji on joining fight against corruption. 125 crore people welcome and support this honesty," tweets Modi.
Kumar also thanked the Prime Minister for supporting his decision.
"I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reacting to the decision I took," tweeted Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar, who stepped down as Chief Minister of Bihar over differences with the RJD, would take oath at 10 a.m. on Thursday as the head of the government with support of BJP.Kumar, who met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi late on Wednesday with NDA leaders to summit his resignation, staked claim to form a new government with support of 132 MLAs.
Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi will take oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
