Congress to hold press meets in 21 cities on manifesto Last Updated : 04 Apr 2019 06:34:59 AM IST Congress President Rahul Gandhi (fil photo) The Congress has planned a nation-wide reach out to voters about its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls with press conferences across 21 cities on Thursday.
The manifesto, which was released by Congress President Rahul Gandhi here on Tuesday, will also be locally released by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath at Bhopal on Thursday.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will address a press conference in Raipur and Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy in the union territory.
A press meet will also be held at Varanasi, constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and it will be addressed by party leader Mohan Prakash.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will address press conference in Jammu, Sachin Pilot in Jaipur, Anand Sharma in Mumbai, Kapil Sibal in Bengaluru, Sharmishtha Mukherjee in Chennai, Pawan Khera in Kolkata, Rajeev Gowda in Hyderabad, Rajiv Shukla in Lucknow, Rajni Patil in Shimla, Shaktisinh Gohil in Patna, Ajoy Kumar in Ranchi, Manpreet Singh Badal in Guwahati), Meem Afzal in Srinagar, Ashwani Kumar in Jalandhar and Chandigarh, Priyanka Chaturvedi in Bhubaneshwar and Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Delhi.
The press conferences are aimed to reach out to the electorate across the states and highlight the party's thrust to fight the elections on "real issues" of people against "hyper-nationalism" of the BJP.
Gandhi said in a tweet on Wednesday that the manisfeto had got an overwhelming response.
"Months of solid work rewarded by an overwhelming response. I'm so proud our people's manifesto accurately reflects the voice of (India). Thank you everyone," he said.
