How many fans are dreaming to touch the javelin that won India a gold medal at the Olympics? How about getting to keep that javelin with you forever? Yes, you read that right! Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing this rare opportunity to all the countrymen to bag the mementos which hold a special place for the nation.

Neeraj Chopra's Tokyo Olympics javelin and para-athlete Sumit Antil's javelin are among the many that are up for grabs in the e-auction of gifts presented by Olympians and Paralympians to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Neeraj had bagged a gold medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics and he became the first Indian athlete to win gold for the country in track and field. A few days later, Sumit Antil followed suit in the Paralympics and he also bagged gold.

The e-auction, which can be accessed on Pmmementos.gov.in, has around 1,330 mementos for the taking.

In addition to the Olympics-related items, other interesting artefacts include a replica of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir which was presented by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a wooden replica of Chardham presented by Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, some other models, sculptures, paintings and angavastras.

Importantly, the proceeds from the auction will be spent on namami gange project, a programme initiated for the conservation and rejuvenation of the country's life-giving river Ganga.

The enthusiasm in the country over the auction can be gauged from the fact that the base price of Sumit Antil's Javelin was fixed at Rs 1 crore.

The e-auction which began on September 17 will continue till October 7.
